Marketers, start your engines! The iPhone 8 is almost here
Earlier this year, Apple revealed that it would support near-field communication (NFC) tags in iOS 11. The significance of the announcement did not go unnoticed: Paula Hunter, executive director of the NFC Forum pointed out that an additional 2 billion people in the world would now have an NFC reader available in their pocket to interact anywhere and any time.
Marketers who have been reluctant to embrace NFC for on-the-go mobile interaction because of the lack of iPhone support might want to read that last sentence again. That’s an additional 2 billion people they could potentially reach.
At Thyngs, we’re naturally quite excited about this opportunity. We provide an end-to-end solution for all kinds of ‘contactless’ interaction, including NFC tags, a network of integration partners, and a cloud-based management and analytics platform. We’ve already created the world’s biggest NFC wearables marketing campaign in the entertainment industry, and are helping clients across multiple sectors connect print, packaging, and products to online promotions and payment systems. With NFC now supported by all the major phone systems, it’s even easier and more cost-effective for marketers take advantage of the impending acceleration in adoption of this technology.
iPhone users will still need an app to read NFC tags, but we’ve got that covered too. Our free Tap & Scan app enables iPhone users to tap their phone on NFC tags, as well as save and manage their favourite scans.
