Thyngs wins place on UK Government Digital Marketplace

The UK Government’s G-Cloud initiative allows public sector bodies to easily access cloud-based services from a range of vendors, without the need to undergo a tender process. Two of the lots available, Cloud Software and Cloud Support, have been awarded to Thyngs.

Thyngs has been awarded a place on the UK Government Digital Marketplace under the G-Cloud 9 framework (Cloud Software and Cloud Support) which will see it provide its mobile technology platform to public sector buyers, allowing them to create proximity-based services easily and cost-effectively.

Launched in 2012, the UK Government’s G-Cloud programme provides public sector bodies with an easy way to procure cloud-based services. The service involves a framework of agreements with suppliers and a Digital Marketplace, where buyers can browse and procure services relevant to their specific needs.

The award means that Thyngs is now able to offer its mobile proximity platform to the public sector without the need to undergo a tender process. Its cloud-based platform will be available within the Cloud Software lot, with planning and implementation expertise available through the Cloud Support lot.

Neil Garner, Thyngs' CEO, says,

"The G-Cloud framework is a key route to market for technology for UK public sector clients, so we are naturally delighted to be appointed to it. Our platform makes it easy for any organisation to create and manage proximity-based payment and information services and this appointment makes it eveneasier for public sector clients to benefit."
