Since Thyngs launchedin the spring, we’ve been working with some wonderful organisations on projects to transform their ordinary objects into points you can connect to, using your smart phone. Using the Thyngs technology to bridge the gap between the real and the digital world has helped various organisations showcase their fabulous work.
The summer was a particularly busy time, and we've met some really inspiring individuals and worked on some really creative projects. Autumn is now in full swing, and we have many more exciting projects on the go! More to come soon. But in the meantime here’s a little round up of what we’ve been up to.
Back in June, we helped promote some fabulous local charities at the Royal Norfolk Show: The Big C, Nelson’s Journey, and YMCA Norfolk. To help showcase and promote their work, we turned some of their everyday objects into interactive thyngs: a wedding dress, a research scientist’s lanyard, and a teddy bear. We even helped create an interactive history wall! Read about it here.
As well as entering an interactive robo-duck in Break’s annual duck race (Theo the Thynginator), we also arranged an interactive treasure hunt to help support Break’s festivities. Avid duck hunters had to search for duck-shaped signs, and tap them with their smartphone. What a quacking way to spend the August Bank Holiday! Read about it (and check out the pictures) here.
In August, we hosted a special partner preview event to say thanks to everyone who’s supported us so far. The highlight of the evening was, of course, the interactive cocktail making! Want to seeloads of pictures of our guests’ cocktail making in action? Click here.
In September, we helped domestic violence charity, Leeway, create some interactive signs for their annual conference. When delegates tapped the human-shaped signs with their smartphones, they revealed hard-hitting facts and figures to help raise awareness of domestic violence
Also in September, we were proud to support Norfolk Chamber of Commerce’s Talking Tech Event. Thyngs founder and CEO, Neil, hosted a workshop on how businesses should be utilising apps and mobile. We also provided an interactive networking feature. We gave each exhibitor a thyngs powered lanyard. Delegates that tapped every lanyard with their smartphone were entered into a draw to win tickets for next year’s event.
So what’s next? Well, we’re currently working with many more organisations including UEA, Anteros Arts Gallery, Big C, Aspergers East Anglia charity, the SOS Bus, and something seasonal for November. Keep checking the Thyngs' blog for the latest news and events from the team.
